الهدف الرئيسي من هذه الدراسة استکشاف اتجاهات طلاب وطالبات کلية التربية الأساسية نحو القراءة الحرة في ضوء بعض المتغيرات، وتکونت عينة الدراسة من (630) طالباً وطالبةً من کلية التربية الأساسية بالهيئة العامة للتعليم التطبيقي والتدريب في الکويت، وتتضمن (218) طالباً، و(412) طالبة، واشتملت أدوات الدراسة على مقياس الاتجاهات نحو القراءة الحرة، واستبيان للتعرف على أسباب العزوف عن القراءة الحرة والحلول العملية لمعالجة ذلک. وتوصلت نتائج الدراسة إلى وجود اتجاهات ايجابية لدي طلاب وطالبات کلية التربية الأساسية نحو القراءة الحرة، ووجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في الاتجاهات نحو القراءة الحرة تبعاً لمتغير النوع وذلک لصالح الإناث، وعدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في الاتجاهات نحو القراءة الحرة تبعاً لمتغير التخصص سواء کان علميا أو أدبيا، کما أن المعدل الدراسي للطلاب والطالبات کان منبئاً باتجاهاتهم نحو القراءة الحرة، وأوضحت النتائج أن من أهم أسباب عزوف الطلاب والطالبات عن القراءة الحرة من وجهة نظرهم هو تقصير المؤسسات التربوية والمجتمعية في ترسيخ عادة القراءة لديهم إضافة إلى انشغالهم بوسائل التواصل الاجتماعي عن هذه الممارسة. The present study aimed to explore the attitudes of students at the College of Basic Education towards free reading in the light of certain variables. The sample of the study consisted of (630) students from the College of Basic Education at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training in Kuwait. The sample was consisted of (218) males, and (412) females. The study instruments included a scale of attitudes towards free reading, and a questionnaire to identify the reasons for reluctance to free reading and practical solutions to address them. The results of the study concluded that there were positive attitudes among students of the College of Basic Education towards free reading. There were statistically significant differences in the attitudes towards free reading according to the gender variable in favor of females. There were no statistically significant differences in the attitudes towards free reading in terms of the variable of specialization. The academic general point average (GPA) of the students was also a predictor of their attitudes towards free reading. The results also indicated that one of the most important reasons for students' reluctance to free reading from their viewpoints is the failure of the educational and community institutions to establish the habit of reading among them, in addition to their preoccupation with social media.
