POTENTIOMETRIC AND THERMODYNAMIC INVESTIGATION OF RHENIUM(V) COMPLEXES WITH 1-METHYL-2-MERCAPTOIMIDAZOLE

Abstract

Stability constants of 1-methyl-2-mercaptoimidazole with rhenium(V) were determined potentiometrically in acidic medium (4 M HCl) at different temperatures. The dissociation constants pK of 1-methyl-2-mercaptoimidazole as well as the stability constants (log K) of their complexes were determined at varieties temperatures. The corresponding thermodynamic parameters (∆Go, ∆Ho and ∆So) were determined and discussed. The formation of the metal complexes has been found to be exothermic.
