Pregnancy is considered a stressful situation that can lead to an increased anxiety level and affect the process of weight gain for some women. This study aims at assessing the relationship between level of anxiety among pregnant women and weight gain. The sample is composed of 74 women who attended MCH centers at Zagazig city. Data were collected from September 2001. An interview questionnaire, anxiety scale and weight gain calculation were designed to fulfill the aim of the study. The results reveal that the highest percentage of women has moderate anxiety level. Also the highest percentage of women gained weight below normal. It is also observed that there is a significant relation between the level of anxiety and weight gain.
