Abstract

Camel milk is considered by dessert people as a complete food, that one can live on alone for weeks. It is believed to be good for the live, and to give women a clear complexion. It contains high metal content particularly Fe and Zn. The metal content in the camel milk was calculated to have average values of: 104, 286, 95, 139, 380, and 50 ug/I for Cu, Ni, Mn, Cd, Pb, and Cr, respectively. For Fe and Zn, their average concentrations being 1950 and 4797 ug/I respectively. For urine composition, it seems to vary from that of milk, it's average values being 1.0, 145, 76, 121, 810, and 31 ug/I for Cu, Ni, Mn, Cd, Pb, and Cr, respectively. Fe and Zn concentrations seemed to have average values of 2318 and 604 ug/I, respectively. Accordingly, milk has higher values of Cu, Ni, Mn, Cd, Cr, and Zn than those of urine, while Pb concentration seemed to be greater in urine than that of milk. The order of abundance of the studied metals followed the following sequence: In milk: Zn > Fe > Pb > Ni > Cd > Cu > Mn > Cr In urine: Fe > Zn > Pb > Ni > Cd > Mn > Cr > Cu Girls Collage of Education-Jeddah P.O.Box 9470 Jeddah 21413
