Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to use electronic information systems in evaluating the cost and return to rationalize water use by focusing on alternative ways to fill the deficit in fresh water by expanding the use of energy in the operation of seawater desalination plants, and electronic applications used to evaluate the unit cost of desalinated water from desalination plants It works with reverse osmosis (RO) technology by building simulation models to estimate the cost of a unit of desalinated water, given a set of independent variables affecting it, using C# specialized in evaluating and analyzing the cost structure of water desalination operations, and SPSS, where these programs used to develop scenarios aimed to:

• Estimating the unit cost value of desalinated water.

• Comparison of the unit cost of desalinated water.

The researcher relied on the inductive approach and the reference review of previous studies in describing the technical methods used in desalination.

the work of the so-called interview guide to study the impact of a set of independent variables on the unit cost of desalinated water, and the study reached results, including that the use of nuclear fuel is a strategic and effective option due to low cost and is characterized by its low negative effects on the surrounding environment compared to conventional fuel. Exploiting new energies in operating desalination plants and developing a national strategy for water desalination in Egypt that meets the state's needs, in line with the state's strategies to save the water resource.
