Abstract

The study mainly aimed to characterize the levels of psychological, social and environmental adaptation of female breadwinners in the study area, to identify the nature of the relationship between some of the study variables, and to the levels of adaptation of the respondents' female breadwinners, and to determine the degree of the relative contribution of the independent variables studied in explaining the total variation of the levels of adaptation of the respondents The problems faced by female breadwinners, as well as proposals for solving them from the viewpoint of the respondents themselves, suggesting the main pillars of the strategy for improving the levels of adaptation of the breadwinners woman.
The theoretical framework of the study included a presentation of what adaptation is, where the concept of adaptation and its relationship with other relevant social concepts were shed, namely: social support, awareness raising, the concept of self-help, the concept of claim, as well as the types of adaptation, its objectives and main characteristics, the principles of adaptation and its dimensions, And indicators of women's adaptation, and finally, obstacles to women's adaptation.
The theoretical side of the study also dealt with the issue of the dependent woman as a social phenomenon, the characteristics of families headed by women, the problems of breadwinning women, and the participation of the dependent woman in development
The study was conducted in Cairo governorate, and since it was difficult to collect research data from the total number of female breadwinners due to the spread of their places of residence over a wide geographical range, Ain Shams district was chosen to apply the study to it as a model for the Cairo governorate, and a regular random sample of 35% of the total The number of female breadwinners in three streets in the Ain Shams area, and the study sample amounted to 150 female breadwinners distributed over the three streets: 60 women in Ahmed Esmat Street, 43 women in Sayed Abul Naga Street, and 47 women in Mansheyet Al-Tahrir Street In order to obtain the necessary field data for the study, the researcher used standardized personal interviews, using a questionnaire form designed by the researcher, and the data were collected during July and August 2020.
 
More than one statistical method was used in the analysis of the data of this study to achieve its objectives and test its hypotheses, including T-scores, percentages, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and frequency distribution tables in order to describe the data, and the simple Pearson correlation coefficient, chi-square test and Kramer's coefficient, was used. Stability (alpha) Kronbach, as a bullish progressive multiple regression analysis model was used
The study found that there are four independent variables that contribute to explaining the total variation in the level of psychological and social adaptation of female breadwinners, which can be arranged in descending order as follows: standard of living (16.4%), and the average number of years of children's education (4.2%), The degree of utilization of community services (3.1%), and marital status (2.9%)
