The purpose of this research is to measure the effectiveness of a proposed program in preventive education for developing environmental awareness of the risks of laboratory waste for students of practical faculties. For achieving this goal, literatures and previous researches have been examined, and experts have been questioned in the attached field. An environmental awareness scale for the risks and waste of laboratories has been prepared for students of practical faculties. Also, a scale of behavior of students' performance in their faculties' laboratories has been presented to the arbitrators. A program which main target is to develop the awareness of students of practical faculties towards the concept of preventive education and developing environmental and preventive awareness to protect students from the risks and waste of laboratories and to make sure that their safety and protection is an important axis of the educational process. The researcher has selected the research group from junior students of practical colleges (human medicine, oral medicine, biotechnology) at Egypt University for Science and Technology.
Pre and post measurements are applied to the experimental group, results are monitored, data has been analyzed and the results have been discussed. Results show that there are statistically significant differences between average scores of the experimental group students on scale of environmental awareness of the risks and wastes of laboratories of practical faculties and the scale of behavior of students' performance in their faculties' laboratories, pre/post application of the program, in favor of the post-application.
The research recommends the necessity for increasing attention and strengthening preventive education programs to develop environmental awareness of the risks and waste of laboratories and train practical colleges' students in order to take the necessary precautions for their protection.
