Abstract

The purpose of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of organizing English language content according to Joyce &Weil and Scamper's model in developing concepts, environmental decision making skills and deductive thinking of first year preparatory students. The quasi-experimental design was utilized where two intact first year classes (N=66) in a preparatory school were assigned to an experimental group and a control one. A content analysis of the first year preparatory student book was conducted. Three units were selected and reorganized according to Joyce& Weil and Scamper models. Tools included a pre/post environmental concepts and deductive thinking tests and environmental decision making skill scale.The results of the study indicated the three units and the suggested model proved that :There is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental and control group in the pre and post administrations of the environmental concept test, environmental decision making skill scale and  deductive thinking skills test in favor of the experimental group post testing.  A set of recommendations and suggestions for further research were presented.
