Abstract

The objective of the study was to assess the current situation of the availability of information to researchers in the field of the environment, to identify the obstacles faced by researchers in obtaining information and its impact on researchers and the criteria of blocking and providing information in accordance with international standards for researchers and the information risk faced by researchers and the relationship of providing information to achieve the objectives of the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan. In order to achieve the objectives of the study was selected a sample of 162 size distributed to researchers in the field of environment at the Institute of Environmental Studies and Research, Ain Shams University. The researcher used the theory of the information society and the theory of informational significance. The descriptive approach was used by using the social survey method.

The results of the study found that the researchers achieved percentages ranging between the decrease and the rise within (44.4%) Yes, (35.2%) Sometimes, (20.4%) of the indicators of the availability of information, %). This does not mean that there is a current ratio facing obstacles in obtaining information, including spatial and physical constraints, and transparency and accessibility. At the level of blocking criteria and access to researchers in the field of the environment, researchers who see that there is application of the criteria of blocking and availability in the information centers of relative importance (37.7%), yes (49.1%) sometimes (13.2%). The environmental field in the researchers is psychologically affected when it is difficult for them to obtain information and the total sample is relatively important (79.2%) Yes, (20.8%) Sometimes, (0%) No. (71.7%) Yes, (17%) Sometimes, (11.3%) No
The study recommends increasing the number of workshops and training courses for researchers on various electronic databases to facilitate access to information in order to overcome the handicap of the place, the handicap of time and the physical handicap, as well as raising the awareness of the researchers about the quality of the information risk facing them and how to overcome it by making sure the information from more than one electronic source. Not all the information presented on the Internet is certain, the provision of modern electronic devices in the library to facilitate the researcher to obtain information, providing an online query service to researchers from the library of researchers, Information that can be legally prohibited and information to be made available.
