Abstract

This study's purpose is to set a habilitating speech program for developing vocabulary of hearing-impaired children using cartoon graphics and narrating stories in terms of the environmental and psychological variables of children. The study sample consists of (24) preschool hearing impaired children, aged (4-6 yrs. Old). The study tools are represented in language Test (by dr. Abou Hasiba, Stanford Binet Test for IQ-Version V, Audiometer, and Habilitation Speech Program for hearing-impaired children for developing their vocabulary (by researcher).  The study uses the quasi-experimental method. The study comes to these results: There are significant statistical differences between average scores of the hearing-impaired children of the experimental group pre/post application, in favor of the post application.  There are significant statistical differences between average scores of the experimental group and the control group regarding the language test post-application of the program, in favor of the experimental group. There are no significant statistical differences between average scores of the hearing-impaired children of the experimental group regarding the post/following up application. The study recommends prevailing awareness towards reasons of hearing impairment in children and how to prevent it to avoid symptoms of hearing impairment and restrict its negative impacts. One of the most important researches is the effectiveness of an early intervention program for improving pre-academic skills among children with hearing disability
