Enhancement Adsorption of Crystal Violet From Wastewater Using Chemically Modified Sugarcane Bagasse by Bentonite and Polyurethane

Abstract

The suitability of the sorbent material derived from bagasse (chemically modified with bentonite and polyurethane for adsorption of crystal violet from an aqueous solution was evaluated in a series of batch adsorption experiments). A batch adsorption study was investigated to study the effect of pH, initial dye concentration, adsorption doses, and contact time at different temperatures. The best fit for the adsorption kinetics data is a pseudo-second-order model, while the best description for the adsorption equilibrium data is the Langmuir isotherm. Thermodynamic studies of the adsorption process were performed, and the variables, entropy (ΔSo), enthalpy (ΔHo), free energy (ΔGo), were determined. The endothermic character of the adsorption process was demonstrated by a rising trend in adsorption with increasing temperature.
