Abstract

The current research aims to achieve the following objectives: (1) Measuring extension organization's readiness to use social media in New Valley Governorate, and extracting some recommendations to improve extension organization's readiness to use social media in agricultural extension; (2) Knowing about the respondents' opinions about advantages, barriers and suggestions for using social media in agricultural extension. The study was conducted on all extension employees in New Valley Governorate who use at least one of social media tools (47 respondents). Data were collected using questionnaire forms during February and March 2022. Frequencies, percentages and arithmetic mean were used for data presentation and analysis. Results showed that the extension organization's readiness degree to use social media in New Valley Governorate has not yet reached the point at which it is possible to start using social media in agricultural extension in this governorate, which requires improving this readiness through the recommendations that the current study had reached, taking into account the respondents' suggestions to use social media in agricultural extension.
