Abstract

The research aimed to determine the degree of knowledge of the rural women respondents about the social, economic, and legislative requirements to empower them in society, the degree of importance of these requirements, the relationship of the characteristics of the respondents to the degree of knowledge and importance of these requirements in general, and the obstacles to empowering rural women. The research was conducted on 180 female respondents from the village of Menouf locality, affiliated to the center of Tanta, Gharbia Governorate, and the questionnaire was used to collect field data during the months of March and April 2022, using frequencies, percentages, weighted average, simple correlation coefficient and chi-square test to analyze the data statistically.
They are the results:
 - The increase in the respondents' knowledge of the social, economic and legislative requirements for their empowerment, as their percentage in the high level category reached 82.2%, 68.9%, 53.3%, respectively.
 - Low opinion of respondents on the importance of social, economic, and legislative requirements for their empowerment, as their percentage in the category of high level of importance reached 29.4%, 26.1%, 20%, respectively.
- There is a direct correlation between the variables: the size of agricultural holdings, marital compatibility, cultural openness, membership in organizations, self-confidence of the respondents and the degree of their overall knowledge of the studied requirements.
- There is a direct correlation between the variables of agricultural holding size, marital compatibility, and the respondents' opinion on the importance of requirements in general.
- There is a significant relationship between the variables of marital status, the husband's education, the practical status of the husband and wife, the social status of the family, and the respondents' knowledge of the requirements in general, and their opinion of the importance of these requirements. The most important obstacles to empowering women are the misunderstanding of religious matters with regard to women's rights, the state's neglect of rural women for many years, and the bias towards males at the expense of females in everything.
