Abstract

Meat transportation represents one of the important stages in marketing it, which leads to high transportation costs, and consequently higher selling prices to the consumer. Therefore, the research aimed to suggest the best models for transferring and distributing production of beef between governorates with a production surplus to governorates that suffer from a production deficit, In achieving its objectives, the research was based on some operations research methods, Transportation Problem, to rationalize the transportation process.
In light of the current situation of production and consumption, it was found that the surplus governorates amounted to four governorates, namely Ismailia, Aswan, the Red Sea and the New Valley, while the deficit governorates amounted to about 22 governorates, and under the proposed model, the lowest cost of transportation is estimated at 1.7 million units/km/ton, and the quantities are estimated Transported about 6536 tons, representing about 2.2% of the total production at the level of the Republic.
Under the assumptions of the first scenario, the surplus governorates amounted to three governorates, namely, Aswan, the Red Sea and the New Valley, while the deficit governorates amounted to about 23 governorates, and it was found that the least cost of transportation is estimated at 1.6 million units / km / ton, and the transported quantities are estimated at 4341.1 tons, representing about 1.5% of the total production at the level of the Republic.
Under the assumptions of the second scenario, it was found that the surplus governorates amounted to only four governorates at the level of the Republic, which indicates a decrease in the production of beef, as it is clear that the number of deficit governorates reached 22 governorates. Under the proposed model, the lowest cost of transportation is estimated at 1.6 million units / km / ton, and the transported quantities are estimated at 8829 tons, representing about 3.1% of the total production at the level of the Republic.
The research recommended the use of scientific methods to rationalize the transportation process between governorates, which achieves the least cost and time for transportation while reducing the wastage in circulation, which works to provide meat at the appropriate prices.
