Training Needs of the Students of Faculty of Agriculture at Damanhour University in the Field of Agricultural Entrepreneurship

Abstract

This research aims mainly to determine training needs of the faculty of agriculture students at Damanhour University in the field of agricultural entrepreneurship; the data was collected using an electronic questionnaire by Google forms during the second semester of the academic year 2019/20210. A sample amounted to 150 students. Descriptive statistical tools were used to analyze data, including percentages, mean, standard deviation. The most important results were: (48.67%) of students have a total knowledge level ranging from weak to medium in entrepreneurial thinking, and (66.33%) have attitudes ranging from negative to neutral towards entrepreneurial. The most important obstacle to the spread of the entrepreneurial culture as reported by the students was the lack of resources for many young people. The lack of experience among graduates to undertake the pilot project, the lack of awareness and training of young people in the culture of entrepreneurship; Lack of support for the development of the special project, red tape, and complexity of the start-up procedures for the pilot project, The training requirements for students in entrepreneurship were that the trainer should be a pioneer in agribusiness, The training should be in the summer, The training should be at agricultural research centers, and The preferred training methods are workshops, and practical explanations. The most important suggestions of the respondents to encourage them to entrepreneurship were: The State should encourage young people to set up their own projects, provide the technical training necessary for the graduate to set up his or her own project, prioritize access to funding facilities to encourage entrepreneurship, organize periodic training of graduates in the areas of entrepreneurship in coordination with community-based organizations, and include entrepreneurial knowledge and skills in the curricula.
