Abstract

This research aims to identify the degree to which farmers benefit from the use of social media in the village of Martyr Abdel Moneim Riyad in Al-Bustan District, Al-Buhaira Governorate, in receiving agricultural extension recommendations, through the following sub-objectives, determining farmers' attitudes towards using social media, and determining the degree of actual farmers' use of social media, and to identify the relationship between the independent variables studied by the respondents, and between: the degree to which they benefit from the use of social media, their attitudes towards the use of social media, and the degree of their actual use of social media in receiving agricultural extension recommendations.
This research is based on the descriptive approach to the extent to which the farmers of the village of Martyr Abdel Moneim Riyad in the Al-Bustan area, which is administratively affiliated to the Hosh Issa Center in Beheira, benefited from the use of social media in receiving agricultural guidance recommendations. 165 farmers, and the data was collected through a personal interview using a questionnaire prepared for this purpose, during the month of January 2021 AD, and the results were presented in tables of numerical distribution and percentages, and the data was analyzed using the Pearson simple correlation coefficient, using the statistical packages program for social science statistics SPSS.
The most important results were crystallized as follows:
It was found that nearly three quarters of the respondents (71.6%) have a high level of benefit from the use of social media in receiving agricultural extension recommendations, and nearly two thirds of the respondents (63.3%) also have a high level of positive attitudes towards using social media. And more than half of the respondents (56%), their actual use of social media in receiving agricultural extension recommendations is medium.
The results also showed the existence of a significant correlation between the degree to which respondents benefited from using social media to receive agricultural extension recommendations, and between each of the degree of their attitudes towards their use of these means, and the degree of their actual use of them. The results also showed a significant correlation between some independent factors of the respondents, namely: the size of the agricultural land tenure, informal social participation, the frequency of information centers in the governorate, and cultural openness, and between: the degree to which respondents benefit from using the means of communication to receive agricultural extension recommendations, And the degree of their attitudes towards their use of these means, and the degree of their actual use of them. The results showed that there was an inverse correlation between the degree of actual use by farmers of social media and the age variable, and the research presented a set of recommendations that can be taken into account among workers in the research area.
