Abstract

This study demonstrated that tissue Doppler imaging could bemore valuable than conventional Doppler in evaluating the diastolicfunction in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. As it is found that all patients with diastolic dysfunctiondiagnosed by conventional Doppler showed the same abnormality onusing TDI, moreover the use of the ratio ETDI/ ATDI by TDI diagnosed33.33 % of type 2 diabetic patients to have diastolic dysfunction whilethey were having normal patterns by conventional Doppler whilethere was no control with ETDI/ ATDI < 1.Also, in our study we found that significant higher values ofFBS, PP, HbA1c and triglycerides are associated with impaired LVdiastolic performance.
