The advent of intravascular US microbubble is a new dimension in the recent technical advances of US imaging that aroused the interest of many authors in the last decade. This combined with the improved resolution and higher signal to noise ratio of THI improved the sensitivity of US in detecting focal lesions and evaluating their vascularity compared to conventional Doppler sonography. According to the demonstrated vascular pattern of the hepatic focal lesion, USCAs can identify most of the benign lesions with some overlap and limited specificity regarding haemangioma. The latter can be mistaken for HCC; moreover, USCAs can’t differentiate between HCC, CCC & hypervascular metastases.
