Abstract

Volkmann's ischemic contracture is the end result of unrecognized Volkmann's ischaemia and many cases of compartment syndrome. Volkmann's ischaemic contractures is a serious crippling condition complicating trauma , the condition is more common in the forearm and hand .Volkmann's ischaemic contractures is more common in children below the age of twelve years old ,Clinical findings associated with the diagnosis of compartment syndrome. Over time these have been refined to the ‘‘5 p’s’’The best treatment for Volkmann’s ischemic contracture is prevention.In established Volkmann's contracture, the treatment depends on the severity.
