This study was performed to evaluate the shear bond strengths of GC Fuji IX GP and Riva resin modified glass ionomer as a filling material of deciduous molars with and without salivary contamination by using instron universal testing Machine (an in-vitro study).Shear bond strength of investigating materials to middle of the dentin of primary molars after 24 hours. A totalone hundred and forty tooth caries free freshly extracted or sheded second primary molars were utilized in this study. The tooth was divided into two main groups according to material used in which the group I GC Fuji IX GP (n = 60) and divided into three subgroups, each group contain twenty primary molars with and without salivary contamination while group II Riva SDI (n= 80) in which divided into four subgroups each group contain twenty primary molars with and without salivary contamination.Theocclusal surface of molars was grounded by diamond disc into the flat dentin surface, which materials were applied according to their manufacture's instructions Fuji IX and Riva glass ionomers was applied in pediatric catheter sections (1 inch in diameter and 1 inch in hight) were constructed on the occlusal surface of specimens. In the salivary contaminated subgroups, the dentinal surface was contaminated with human saliva by using a dropper,After 1 minute, the saliva was blotted drywith tissue paper, the mixed filling was placed on the dentin surface with a gentle pressure by using the applier to which shear force was applied to a failure using a universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/minute. The results of the present studyin the group I GC Fuji IX GP, It found the Fuji IX regular without saliva contamination recorded statistically significant (P<0.05) the heighest shear bond strength mean value (3.32 ± 0.51 MPa) while Fuji IX fast with saliva contamination recorded statistically significant (P<0.05) the heighest shear bond strength mean value (3.35 ± 0.45 MPa) , on other hand, in the groupIIRiva SDI , It found the riva light cure regular without saliva contamination recorded statistically significant (P<0.05) the highest shear bond strength mean value (8.173 ± 2.7 MPa), also, with sailiva contamination recorded statistically significant (P<0.05) the highest shear bond strength mean value (7.03 ± 1.7 MPa).
