Aim: to compare clinical and radiographic success rates of pulpotomy in primary molars using sodium hypochlorite versus formocresol as a trial to find an alternative medicament to formocresol.Materials and methods: 110 lower primary molars in 55 children were divided in 2 groups ,Group A: 55 primary molars were treated using formocresol and Group B: 55 primary molars were treated by pulpotomy technique using 5% NaOCl,treated children were recalled at 3 and 6 months postoperatively to be assessed Clinically and radiographically.Results: The results of the present study showed that Sodium hypochlorite is successful pulp medicament but still formocresol showing better results.Conclusions: Sodium hypochlorite is considered as successful as formocresol as pulp medicament in the pulpotomy of primary teeth both clinically and radiographically.Recommendations: More researches to record the effect of formocresol and sodium hypochlorite on permanent successors should be done.
