Abstract

Aim: The aim of the present study is to evaluate the bond strength of iRootsp sealers to dentin treated with: 1-5.25% soduium hypochlorite. 2-0.2% chlorehexidine gluconate. 3-Calicum hydroxide Ca(OH)2 4-Normal saline. Materials and methods: Thirty two extracted human single-straight teeth with curvatures not more than 10 degrees, fully formed apices and without noticeable defects or abnormal root morphology were collected. After thoroughly washed under running water, the teeth were immersed in 5.25% Sodium Hypochlorite for 30 minutes to remove soft tissues on the root surface. The teeth were then gently cleaned with manual scaler to remove any remaining soft tissues or calculus, and stored in 0.9% normal saline until time of use.Standardization of length for all teeth was accomplished by removal of the coronal portion of each tooth atthe cementoenamel junction using water-cooled 7/8 inch dimeter diamond disk in low speed handpiece such that each root was 15mm long. The teeth were randomly distributed into four main experimental groups according to the finalintracanal medications used: Group 1(n=8): The teeth were irrigated with 5ml normal saline for 60 s.Group 2(n=8):The teeth were irrigated with 5ml 5.25% Sodium hypochlorite for 60 sGroup 3(n=8): The teeth were irrigated with 5ml 0.2% chlorehexidinegluconatefor60s.Group 4(n=8): The teeth were treated withCalicum hydroxide Powdermixed with distilled water to form a thick paste for 60s. Results: Descriptive statistics of push out bond strength results measured in (MPa) for all groupsas function of radicular region including mean values and standard deviation. Regardless to radicular region, it was found that CHXgroup recorded statistically significant (p < 0.05) highest push out bond strength mean value followed bysalinegroup then NaOCL group.Ca(OH)2 group recorded statistically significant (p < 0.05) lowest mean value Regardless to medicaments it was found that middleregion recorded statistically significant (p < 0.05) higher push outbond strength mean Coronal region: It was found that CHX group recorded statistically significant (p < 0.05) highest mean value followed by Control group then NaOCL group Ca(OH)2 group recorded statistically significant (p < 0.05) lowest mean value. Pair-wise Tukey’s post-hoc test showed non-significant (p>0.05) differences between (CHX and NaOCL), (CHX and Control) and (NaOCL and Control). Conclusions And Recommendations Within the limitations of the present in-vitro study ,thefllowing could be concluded:1-using iRootspsealer ,the type of irrigant generally did not adversely affect the push out bond strength ,although 0.2% CHX might be the irrigant of choice.2-using iRootsp sealer, the type of iirigant generally did not adversely affect the push out bond strength, although 0.2% CHX might be the irrigant of choice.3-In Ca(OH)2 group ,the bond failure was mainly adhesive in the cervical third and mixed in the middle third. Further researches should be directed to the improvement of the bond strength of sealer with either dentin or Gutta-percha.
