Central venous catheter (CVC) is a necessary component of HD care and they are present in about 43% to 73% of patients. Nurses play a vital role in preventing CVC complications of patients. The aim: this study aimed to evaluate the impact of educational program on nurses' performance regarding care of central venous catheter in hemodialysis unit. The research Design: A quasi-experimental research design . Setting: the study was conducted in hemodialysis unit at Fever Hospital, Beni-Suef Governorate. Sample: A convenient sample of all available nurses. Tools: two tools were used: Tool I: interviewing questionnaire to assess demographic data and nurses' knowledge about CVC. Tool II: Observation checklists to assess nurses' practice about central venous catheter care. The Results: showed that about all of the studied nurses had satisfactory level of knowledge after program implementation compared to before preprogram implementation85% of them had satisfactory knowledge level. Also, about the majority of studied nurses after program had competent level of practice compared to implementation more than half of them had incompetent level of practice before program implementation. Conclusion: there was statistically significant improvement in nurses' total knowledge level and total practice regarding care of central venous catheter in hemodialysis unit after implementation educational program. Recommendations: Further studies are recommended to conduct the training of hemodialysis nurses about the care of central venous catheter.
