Abstract

Abstract
This aim of the current study is to measure the total porosity volume of two bioceramic materials using hand compaction and ultrasonic assisted compaction. Sixty human maxillary central incisors were used in the study. All samples had orthograde endodontic filling followed by root tip excision 3 millimetres from the apex and 90 degrees to the root long axis. A 3 mm ultrasonic tip retrograde preparation was prepared. In the current research, the samples were divided into four groups (n=15). ProRoot MTA compacted manually, EndoSequence BC putty compressed manually, and both with and without ultrasonic instrumentation. Total filling porosity was measured using CBCT. No significant difference was found in ProRoot MTA total porosity volume between groups. For hand compaction, the mean value was 1.559±0.628%, whereas for hand/ultrasonic compaction, it was 1.711±0.706%. (p-value = 0.539). meanwhile For Endo Sequence BC putty hand compaction, the mean value was 2.915± 1.004% and 1.868±0.36% respectively (p<0.001) thus the utilization of hand/ultrasonic combined compaction resulted in a noteworthy reduction in total porosity volume for the Endo Sequence® BC putty.
