Abstract

The study aimed at determining the actual benefits and the fu‌ture needs of the rural women to Agricultural Extension Service to sup‌port their productive activities at different stages, as well as determining kinds of supped they need to improve those activities. The study also aimed at identifying the effects of the rural women's implementation de‌grees of those activities upon the actual benefits of Agricultural Exten‌sion concerning the five studied stages. Data were collected during April and May 2001 by personal inter‌views using a pretested questionnaire from 251 respondent rural women represented (10%) from woman land holders and wives of farmer land holders who wore randomly selected from 5 villages where the Agricul‌ture Extension Service was active in supporting rural women's small pro‌ductive activities . Frequoncos. ranks, percentages, and Chi -Squat test wero used in presenting and analyzing the data statistically. The results of the study revealed the forowing • 1. The percentages of the respondent rural women who were benefited from the agricultural extension service were low M all the studied stages of the productive activities especially in marketing searching for alternative activities and Evaluation stages . 2. The respondent rural women expressed high needs to Agricultural Ex-tension Service in the future to support their productive activities in all the five studied stages . however the pro -implementing stage was ranked ahead of all the other studied stages . 3. There were 9 kinds of Agricultural Extension supports needed by the respondent rural women to improve their productive activities which were in consequently : providing rural women with improved produc-tion inputs helping them in upgrading their technical Information training them on improved production practices , helping them to have improved production tools and helping in establishing exhibitions to market their products . 4. There were effects of the rural women's degrees of implementation of the productive activities upon their actual benefits from Agricultural Extention in three stages of the five studied ones which were : pie-implementing, implementing ,. and evaluation stages . while there were no effects upon the benefits in the other two stages which were : marketing and searching for alternatives activities for the unsuccood‌ed ones.
