Abstract

This research endeavors to deepen our comprehension of the intricate process of language acquisition in children, employing a dialogic analysis framework. The study delves into the multifaceted aspects of language acquisition, encompassing the construction of concepts and meanings and the interactions of children within dialogues. The investigation comprises voice dialogue recordings featuring nine children aged between 4 and 7, engaged in conversations with ninth-grade students from the Computational Linguistics activities at Princess Nourah University. Data analysis was conducted using the Sketch Engine, a computer-based linguistic analysis tool, which furnished statistical insights into the frequency and contextual utilization of words in these dialogues. This statistical information enables a nuanced understanding of word usage, linguistic patterns, and contextual sentence structures. The findings of this study highlight the critical role that early language exposure and social environment play in the development of children's language acquisition and proficiency. It consistently emphasizes the essential requirement of language communication, the process of being exposed to language, and the early development of language skills during a child's crucial developmental period. This provides a protective shield for intellectual exploration in educational research and the practical implementation of language instruction programs.
