Abstract

The research aimed to identify the level of rural women's awareness of rationalizing home energy, the degree of rural women's attitude towards rational consumption of home energy, identifying rural women's practices for rational consumption of home energy, identifying the factors affect on rural women's practices for rational home energy consumption, and finally identifying energy problems from the viewpoint of the respondents and their suggestions. To rationalize household energy consumption, the research relied on the social sample survey approach by selecting a random sample of (120) respondents in the village of Al-Majd in Al-Buhaira Governorate as a geographical area for the research. The data was collected during the month of January 2023, and frequencies, percentages, Pearson's simple correlation coefficient, and an analysis method were used. Step-wise multiple regression to analyze research data.
The results indicated that the majority of female respondents (about 80%) have high awareness of rationalizing electrical energy consumption and rationalizing gas consumption, and about (89.2%) of female respondents have a positive attitude towards rational consumption of home energy, and more than two-thirds of female respondents (about 65.8%) of female respondents have a high level of practice. Towards rational consumption of electrical energy, while about (75.8%) of the female respondents have a high level of practice towards rational consumption of gas. The results also showed that there is a significant correlation between the following independent variables: “standard of living, level of awareness of rationalizing electrical energy consumption, exposure to mass communication means, and household possessions". And between the practices of rational consumption of electrical energy as a dependent variable, and these variables contributed to explaining about (29.6%) of the variance in the level of practices of rational consumption of electrical energy, as well as the presence of a significant correlation between the following independent variables: “home possessions, the degree of attitude towards rational consumption of home energy, Informal social participation" and rational gas consumption practices as a dependent variable, and these variables contributed to explaining about (41.2%) of the variance in the level of rational gas consumption practices.
The results showed that the most important problems related to energy are: lack of maintenance for poles and wires, the price of the stove pipe is expensive and exaggerated, and among the most important proposals to rationalize consumption are the use of energy-saving lamps and regular maintenance of the stove burner.
