Abstract

The problem of the study is defined as "identifying the density of Jordanian audience exposure to various types of dramatic content broadcasted through digital television platforms, which present general Arab societal issues and specific Jordanian ones, thereby shaping their societal perceptions and orientations towards the Jordanian reality and behaviors under the evaluation of the Jordanian audience for the advantages of broadcasting through these platforms, which motivates them for further engagement with their dramatic content. The study relied on both the Media Dependency Theory and the Uses and Gratifications Theory. A convenience sample of 400 Jordanian audience members who follow dramatic content through digital platforms was drawn.

The study found a high reliance of the study sample on digital platforms for following Arab and Jordanian dramatic content, with 40% of the sample expressing their primary reliance on these platforms for viewing. The most commonly used platform was Watch it, accounting for 58% of the sample. A statistically significant correlation was established between the reasons for relying on dramatic content provided through digital platforms and the follow-up of Jordanian societal issues, as well as the effects of following dramatic content through digital platforms on shaping their attitudes towards Jordanian societal issues.
