The aim of this research is to identify the personal and social
characteristics of poor rural households in the study area and to construct a
quantitative measure of the level of poverty of rural households. It has
indications of stability, honesty and ability to discriminate, identify the factors
that influence the components of the poverty scale in the study area and
identify the most important variables affecting poverty and importance
Relative to each of them in the study area, and identify the most important
problems faced by poor rural households in the study area and proposals to
solve them from the point of view of the respondents.
The study was conducted in Fayoum Governorate and Tamiya Center
was selected as it is the poorest and most backward center. The village was
chosen from Tamiya center random manner. The selected sample size was 160
rural households, 10% of the total size of 1582 rural households. But collected
from the head of the household only within each household. The study data
were collected by a personal interview questionnaire from July to the end of
August, and were based on repetitive tables, percentages, tests of honesty,
consistency and ability to discriminate, Poverty scale The most important

The results showed that about 43.8% of all poor rural households have
low economic level, 64.4% have low level of education, 51.3% have low
levels of health, and 57.5% have a total poverty level. The most important
variables affecting both the economic, educational and health levels of poor
rural households were: average per capita income and level of ambition. The
study concluded with discussing the most important results and highlighting
their theoretical and practical implications.
