This article tackles the text of the contemporary French writer, Alain Blottière, who prefaces the photographs of Denis Dailleux in the album: Son of King: Portraits of Egypt, by applying the poetics of ekphrasis to his photographic shots. The ekphrasis involves the commitment of the reader/spectator into the photographic scenes and allows him to apply a variety of detailed description, related to the literary text, to the art of photography. Through Blottière's writing, the reader is committed to taste the visual art of Dailleux's photos, to grasp the characteristics of the portrayed Egyptian people, and finally to understand the socio-economic-political situation under the Republican political regime of modern and contemporary Egypt.
