Determination of Resonance Frequencies of Meander Line Antennas Using Two Dimensional Transmission Line Modeling Method

Abstract

Small antennas are widely used in devices for consumer electronics. The dipole antenna is an example. However, dipole antennas, when decreasing the length, suffer serious drawbacks. Meander line antennas are used as a solution to reduce the resonance frequency of dipole antennas. In this paper, the resonance frequencies of meander line antennas were computed. Variation of resonance frequency with number of iterations and with arm length was investigated. All computations were carried out using a specially developed simulation program written in MATLAB. The program was based upon two-dimensional transmission line modeling method.
