Abstract

The current research aimed at recognizing the effectiveness of food safety legislations and their role in maintaining the health of the guests at floating hotels, and the extent of commitment to their application as well as their effect on avoiding the repetition of committing violations that violate the food safety at these hotels between Luxor and Aswan. The current research focused on the food poisoning cases of guests during the period of research. A questionnaire was used as a means to collect statistical data from the research sample which included a sample of registered floating hotels at the Ministry of Tourism, beside a group of specialists in the inspection of floating hotels by the stakeholder authorities according to the law. The research sample consisted of (70) floating hotelS. Statistical analysis of the data was done using SPSS version 24 (correlation, regression and variance tests to test the validity of the research hypotheses). The research presented a set of suggested recommendations to activate the food legislations and maximizing its role in maintaining the guests' safety at floating hotels. Among these suggested recommendations are; launching a unified law instead of the diversity of laws and legislations, to avoid conflict among them; the various public supervision and monitor agencies should be abolished, and an independent authority concerned with inspection and monitor of food safety at floating hotels should be established, and the floating hotels should be combined to the CODEX authority as well as the application of its legislations.
