Two field experimental were carried out at Republic of Niger ( Sub-tropical
climatic condition ) at Farm Agriculture cooperation between Niger and Egypt at
Tiagurire in zone Say (Ferme Agricole Commune Niger -Egypte ), during (1998/1999)
and (1999/2000) seasons This study props to determined the response of two
Egyptian crosses were adapted on Niger climatic conditions to three nitrogen levels
(80 ,100 ,120 kg N/fad).
Significant differences were detected between the two years for plant and
ear height ,ear length and ear diameter. Significant between two crosses were appear
for all traits except ear height and ear diameter .The interaction between crosses x
years were significant for ear length, ear diameter and number of kernels lear. Single
cross 124 tended to produce higher grain yield than T.W.C 352 and the differences
between them amounted to about two ardabs per faddan (ard/fad) in favor of S.C
124.
The nitrogen levels were significant for grain yield, ear length, number of
kernels Irow and number of kernels/ear. While the interactions between nitrogen x
years, nitrogen x hybrids and nitrogen x hybrids x years were not significant for all
traits except ear length for nitrogen x crosses. The highest mean performances were
obtained with 120 kg NI fad for all study traits except silking date.
