Clients' Satisfaction with Services Rendered by MCH Centers at Sohag Governorate

Abstract

Clients' satisfaction and consumers' focus has become a prime objective in the planning and evaluation of health services. The aims of this study were to benchmark clients' satisfaction of health services at MCH centers and to identify factors that may increase clients' satisfaction. The study sample was a convenient sample consisted of 300 clients attending three MCH centers in Sohag Governorate seeking different kinds of MCH services. A specially designed questionnaire prepared by the researcher was used to collect the needed data. Results show that over all clients satisfactions reaches 63%, satisfaction increases with age and decreases with education, crowded waiting areas (89%) and long waiting hours (81%) were the higher reported problems encountered by the clients in MCH centers, no significant difference detected between the required characteristics of an ideal MCH nurse and physician, however, strong positive correlation were detected among different levels of education and the required characteristics of MCH nurse & physician. Regards clients demands for an ideal nurse and physician, good communication with the clients was the first demand from both the nurse (94%) and the physician (88.33%) followed by up-to-date knowledge for the doctors (80.66%) and able to give appropriate health education for the nurse (93%). It is recommended to computerize clients' services to facilitate access to information and to follow proper appointment services to overcome long waiting hours and crowdedness.
